A 1st? Hell no. I don’t care what year it’s in. |

I appreciate the feedback. I am surprised by the “offer”. My thought would be that Holland would ask for one of “his” draft picks. Rasmussen, Svech, etc. |

I'd take him on the team for sure, but not at the cost of a 1st round pick in the current state of the Wings. I feel like that's a bit steep, especially considering the chance they still aren't making playoffs in 2022, the pick is more valuable. |

I tend to agree that the 1st round is a bit much |

They definitely need help on D. Still the lowest scoring team in the league right now. More offense would be welcome as well |

Why take Jesse when you can take Voracek instead |

Wait, why is Mantha for RNH being dismissed as a ridiculous proposition? This actually seems like a pretty good deal for both sides
RNH plays a more premium position, is much more responsible defensively, and has posted (slightly) better numbers in his career. All while playing in the shadow of McDavid, and getting basically zero PP minutes
And they’re roughly the same age, so you can’t even play that angle
Sure, Mantha is off to a hot start this season, but if you put RNH on this Wings team, he’d be the 1st line centre and would undoubtedly be posting stronger stats too
I’d rather have RNH, all things considered. No slight at all to Mantha, who’s a stud. But people love underrating RNH. He brings a lot to the table

RNH plays on the same PP unit as McDavid and Draisitl. So his numbers aren't limited because he plays behind them. He's nothing more than a good 2-way second line center. He can't drive a line or make players around him that much better. Mantha has more value for sure. |

The dismissal was more to do with the fact that little or nothing came of the rumor. I wouldn’t make that swap though. RNH is a very good player. The center position is one of need, but I don’t think he would replace Larkin as top dog.
That rumor just didn’t have legs. That was the point of the disclaimer |

I've been championing AA for JP a while now. I agree with Jeremy, more likely Holland acquires one of "his" guys from the last decade than a pick. It will be a fun 10 days of speculation. |

I have many close friends who are oilers fans and have been constantly baffled at how they could continue to support such an inept team. I've spent more hours looking at their cap friendly page the last 2-3 years than any other team. I've also watched them lose A LOT of hockey games. Last year I was really pushing for an RNH trade while he was still signed to a good contract with term because it looked like that contract would expire before they were competitive, and they wouldnt be able to resign him for the 8-9M he'll get on the open market.
Now I'm not so sure. It looks like Holland and Tippet have actually turned a corner. Boston has proved you can make it all the way to game 7 of the SCF with one (helluva) scoring line... AND some serious depth on the backend. Defense starts down the middle too, and your 2C is an important player in this regard, but not as important as your goalie.
The only teams that should be looking at RNH are the ones who are a very good 2C away from contention, it's a small list - Calgary, NYI, Montreal. The fact RNH can also play wing makes him a good fit for a lot more teams.
If Ken Holland really wanted to acquire Mantha in EDM, it would cost him Drai, and I just dont see them making that deal.

No way that rumor is true. Either that Finnish guy made it up to get hits or Holland fed it to him hoping to drive up the price a bit. If Yzerman had actually offered that Holland would have jumped on it.
As i have said before, to me Puljujarvi isn't worth much more than what Yzerman gave up for Perlini or Fabbri.

At the Griffins game tonight... they're up 4-2 end of 2nd period.
But... more importantly I just saw Seider score his first AHL goal on a 3 on 1 odd man rush. Nice wrister short side on the goalie. Woot,.. woot ! |

Nice! He’s on pace to set the record for 18 year old Dman in the AHL. Fantastic kid too. Thanks for posting that! |

Really? Lol Mantha for Drai? Have you checked the stats lately ? Drai is tearing it up and will be in the running for the selke as well as hart and art ross not sure how much oilers games you get but surely you have highlights in Detroit and you will see Dr Drai all over the oilers Mantha is a good player forsure but even before this year compare the two of them he is nowhere near Leon’s level he’s heavily underrated if he was in Toronto there would be a church built for him lol |

The guy just said he would think the Wings would want Draisaitl for Mantha and the Oilers would say no...not sure what is so outlandish about that statement.
I do wonder what kind of numbers Mantha could put up playing with McDavid and what kind of numbers Draisaitl would put up playing with Larkin if you switched them. Possible that you would be saying that Draisaitl isn't worth Mantha in that scenario. |

There's an article about in on MLIVE. Also.. he got an assist last night I forgot to mention. It was a good night for the kid. He does need to stay out of the box though as he got a couple of penalites (he's still learning). San Antonio has a fast transition game. |
